Linda has lived, worked and raised her family in Vaughan for over 50 years. From 2002 – 2010, she served as Ward 2 Local Councillor, Local and Regional Councillor and Mayor. For the past 4 years, she has had the honour of representing you as your Local and Regional Councillor.
In addition to her role as Local and Regional Councillor, Linda also sits on the board and the Executive Committee of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA). At the TRCA, Linda represents the unique environmental interests of York Region and the City of Vaughan. Linda was also appointed as Chair of the City of Vaughan Accessibility Advisory Committee as well as the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Sub-Committee.
Linda’s late mother, Lorna Jackson, was Vaughan’s longest-serving Mayor and held office from 1982 until her death in April 2002. Lorna’s political career played a significant role in influencing Linda’s career in politics. To this day, she credits her mother with teaching her the importance of public service and how to positively effect change in the community with strong leadership.
We need to ensure responsible community planning that allows our City to grow while respecting the integrity of existing communities and continue to offer a diverse range of housing options for all residents.
It is vital that we maximize the effectiveness of existing roadways, expand and connect current and new corridors in order to benefit all motorists, cyclists, transit users and pedestrians.
Vaughan needs to continue to attract new businesses in all sectors to maintain a strong industrial/commercial tax base that reduces the burden to our residents while continuing to offer unparalleled services.
